Aikin / Aikins Family Bible

This Bible was first owned by William Lindsay Aikin/Aikins and his wife Ann Wallace, and then later entries were written in by John Bowen Aikins or his wife Estella Mary Barton. William was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and would move his family out to Lulu, Mitchell, Kansas before the 1880 census. The Bible was published in 1859, so any entry before that date would be non-contemporaneous.

Information Concerning the Bible

These Bible records started out with surname Aikin. About 1880 the ‘s’ was added to make it Aikins throughout the rest of the records. Included inside this Aikins Bible, are two photos, a post card from Eleanor written to Nancy in Beloit, Kansas, a Certificate of Membership in the United Presbyterian Church of Hopewell dated 1906 for Mrs. Nancy AIKINS, a note showing F. W. SHAMBURG, Scottville, Kansas and a newspaper clipping of a casualty list containing Captain Charles W. AIKINS name, who was wounded in action. All of these items have been scanned and will be viewable in the Aikin Bible Images.
