Biography of Daniel Starkey

Daniel Starkey, born on March 1, 1848, in LaGrange County, Indiana, settled in Montgomery County in 1878. After six years, he acquired land and managed it until 1898, when he moved to Wilson County, leaving the farm to his son, Harvey. His father, Thomas Starkey, was a notable militia colonel and justice of the peace. Daniel married Abbie Brown and had two sons, Harvey and Charles. A prominent member of the Farmers’ Alliance, he supported Populist principles and served on several school board committees.
